About
our Classes
The Metaphysical Center of New Jersey offers a 13 level course of study in Metaphysics and Parapsychology in many Adult Education Schools in the northern New Jersey area. The courses cover a wide range of fascinating topics in the field and by their depth and breadth give students a perspective in which to hold past, present, and future learning.
Courses usually run for 10 weeks and each class
meets approximately for an hour and a half with varying
start dates in September/October for the Fall semester
and February/March in the Spring. Since all of the 13
levels are not offered each semester, classes may be
taken in any order. However, students are encouraged to
take Metaphysics and Parapsychology 1 early in their
studies as it provides a necessary foundation.
In addition, MCNJ offers various workshops and classes through the Adult Education Schools on topics such as ESP, Tarot, and Psychic Development. Fees for all classes are determined by the Adult School but are usually about $70 for a 10 week course. Tarot I and II Workshops
Tarot I Workshop
Learn the basic meanings of the Major and Minor Arcana (78 cards) at this in-depth workshop. Special emphasis is given symbols, colors, and numerology of the cards. A simple, Easy-to-Remember system will have you knowing what each card and suit represents and much more.
Tarot II Workshop
The Hands-On day will teach various layouts: the Celtic Cross (a specil form), yes/no, timing, spiritual destiny, karmic relationships and more. You will practice doing a reading applying what you just learned. You will leave feeling confident to pursue your work with Tarot using practical knowledge. Lot of lively exchanges and fun are part of this workshop.
Note: Tarot I is recommended before Tarot II, especially if you have no previous knowledge. The Waite-Rider Deck will be used. Bring your own or purchase in class. Space is limited - reservations are required. Bring a bag lunch. The cost for each class is $85.

Sacred Art: The Seven Passages
This hands-on course will take you on a journey
through the chakras using painting, poetry,
storytelling, movement, meditation, chant, and the
experience of creating 7 mandalas. Each mandala will
contain a different intention, set of colors,
elements and form. As you explore the seven passages
from Inspiration to Manifestation, you will create a
space through the making of art as the means to
reflect upon your life. Beginners and advanced
artists welcome; no special artistic talent is
needed. Please call to reserve a space as it is
limited and materials need to be purchased.
Everything is included in the course fee of $115.
An Introduction to Shin Buddhism
Paul Roberts will introduce the concepts involved in
Buddhism and teach the basic practice of Shin
Buddhism, which is so simple that it is well within
the reach of anybody, regardless of their capacity to
do any sort of meditation, visualization or other
advanced spiritual practice. Whatever your personal
spiritual path, the Dharma teachings of Shin Buddhism
provide benefits to average people who live the
normal, busy lives of a typical householder and who
don’t have time to take long retreats.
There is no fee for this course as Paul is offering his teachings for free. As he said, “This wonderful Dharma teaching has been freely shared with me, and blessed my life more than I can say – and in that same spirit I freely share it with others.”
Paul has offered to share the Dharma teachings he has received from Eiken Kobai Sensei, one of Japan's leading scholars and teachers of Shin Buddhism, also known as Jodo Shinshu. Shin Buddhism is a remarkable, yet little known path within the larger framework of Buddhism. It is by far the most widely practiced form of Buddhism in Japan.
There is no fee for this course as Paul is offering his teachings for free. As he said, “This wonderful Dharma teaching has been freely shared with me, and blessed my life more than I can say – and in that same spirit I freely share it with others.”
