Winter Solstice Ceremony and Celebration with Harriet Wagniere
The word solstice comes from a Latin word meaning “sun standing still.” Since ancient times, humans recognized the winter solstice and hailed it as the day that marks the return of the sun. It is no coincidence that in the Christian church the birth of the Son coincides with the rebirth of the Sun. In a spiritual sense, it is a reminder that in order for a new path to begin, the old one must end. Please feel free to bring a healthy snack to share after the ceremony.

The Knights Templar, The Holy Grail, The Shroud of Turin and Enlightenment with John White
What is the Holy Grail? Why did the Knights Templar search for it? Is the Shroud of Turin a hoax or the burial shroud of Jesus? What did the Knights Templar have to do with the Shroud? And what does all that have to do with the founding of America? John will answer these questions and describe startling new data which indicate the Holy Grail is not a cup or chalice, but actually is the Shroud of Turin. Moreover, all of that is directly connected to the process of attaining enlightenment. He will clarify various historical mysteries and questions about the spiritual process of God-realization.

John White is an internationally-known author in the fields of paranormal phenomena, consciousness research and higher human development. In the 1970s he worked with Apollo 14 astronaut Dr. Edgar Mitchell to establish a research institute to study the human potential. He has published 15 books, including The Meeting of Science and Spirit, What Is Enlightenment?, and A Practical Guide to Death and Dying. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, Reader's Digest, Science of Mind, Esquire, Omni, Woman's Day and various other newspapers and magazines. He lives in Cheshire, Connecticut.

This next season the Readers Circle will be changing things up a bit:

• We will be meeting every other month, in an effort to allow more time for our pleasure reading within our hectic schedules!

• Each meeting date has been assigned a theme, as well as a short list of suggested books related to the theme, from which you can choose one to read. As before, you have the option of bringing to our meetings a different theme-related book that you would like to recommend to the others. This should provide a wealth of interesting topics to share with each other! If you don’t have the time to read one of the suggested books, please come anyway! The discussions are inspiring!

• We will continue to meet at the Borders in Riverdale, 52 Route 23 North, Riverdale, New Jersey 07457, from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. We will be seated in the Café at the rear of the store.
